PLOT

In Japan, an organization known as Direct Attack (DA) has significantly reduced terrorist activities by training orphaned girls as assassins through their "Lycoris" program. Takina Inoue, a highly skilled Lycoris, is dedicated to her mission but loses control during a hostage crisis, resulting in her expulsion from DA. Forced to leave the only home she's known, she ends up at LycoReco, a café that serves as her new base. To her surprise, Takina finds her new colleague, Chisato Nishikigi, to be quite different from what she expected. Rather than focusing solely on their work, Chisato engages in a variety of unusual tasks under the pretense of helping others. Takina is even more shocked when Chisato manages to subdue armed attackers without resorting to lethal force. As Takina struggles with feelings of inadequacy and longs to return to DA, Chisato encourages her to see that life encompasses more than mere survival.
